Republican Senator John Thune says Congress shouldn't commit more money to the Cash for Clunkers program without an accounting of what's already been spent or is obligated in rebates.

He says Congress is throwing borrowed money at a problem without considering the long-term effects on the economy and future taxpayers.

Johnson says the money will come from the stimulus package. Thune says Democratic leaders have said they'll try to replace the stimulus money, effectively adding to the deficit.
