An effort that aims to combat childhood obesity will
kick off at Menno Middle School today with a program and pep rally.
The kickoff is part of a national effort called the
American Horsepower Challenge which started last month and launches today in
South Dakota.
The challenge has students in participating schools across the state counting
their steps to compete against other states. South Dakota Sen. John Thune’s
steps will be counted in South Dakota’s total because he is an honorary
participant along with 22 other members of Congress.
