The American people are concerned following the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, and apprehensive of another attack happening on American soil. On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune, along with 8 others in the Senate sent President Obama a letter, insisting he pursue additional military options, when it comes to defeating ISIS abroad.     

Rapid City, (KEVN-TV) The American people are concerned following the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, and apprehensive of another attack happening on American soil.

On Tuesday, U.S. Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune, along with 8 others in the Senate sent President Obama a letter, insisting he pursue additional military options, when it comes to defeating ISIS abroad.

Senator John Thune said, "They thrive on gaining ground, they have to have, hold territory in order to be able to recruit and fund their operations and so, we have to be leading a coalition of nations around the world that has one objective, and that is to defeat them once and for all and wipe them out as a threat, not only to that region but to the rest of the world."

ISIS has publicly announced its intention to strike the mainland United States, and members of the Senate say they are disappointed in what the President had to say in his Oval Office address Sunday.

In the letter, the Senate members insist the coalition must inflict highly visible territorial losses starting with Iraq.

They say the President's approach has been ineffective and are disappointed it will continue to be implemented.
